At Leigh and Bransford  Primary School, we have an exciting and engaging curriculum which is carefully designed to meet the needs of our children and give them every possible opportunity to fulfil their potential. Our curriculum intent document provides further details, specifically relating to our key drivers.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced and meets the requirements of the National Curriculum 2014. We have set out a clear progression of knowledge and skills to ensure that our sequences build on what has previously been learnt, thus ensuring deep understanding. We have high expectations of all of our children and our curriculum provides them with challenging and memorable learning experiences. A key aim of our curriculum is to enable effective learning by creating linked opportunities across subject areas, therefore providing a meaningful, purposeful context which engages and inspires.

The reading schemes that are primarily used in school are Oxford Reading Tree and Oxford Project X. This is supplemented with other carefully selected and phonically banded resources to develop early reading skills. This ensures that these resources support our phonics teaching at the stage that each child is working.

Our Phonics teaching programme in EYFS and Key Stage One is Twinkl phonics. Children in these classes take part in Phonics sessions each day to provide them with a strong foundation for reading and writing.
